Always liked this crazy triangular apartment block in South Melbourne, so pointy, took the site shape and ran with it.
It’s on Heather Street, opposite that triangular park that the no 1 tram goes past after Kingsway. Other than the pointy balconies it’s totally ordinary.
Dont know the architect, but found an article from late 1973 noting it was new. It’s quite large compared to everything around it, but it’s set back on all sides, and lots of planting around it, so it doesn’t really stand out from the front – though I remember as a kid I think when maybe no trees at all, it was very striking. Found a sale ad (‘tightly held’) which shows maybe original cabinets in the lounge and bedroom, large bedrooms, and sliding window walls opening onto the balcony, a nice touch.
Pic 9 from @michaelstrugnellhair when it had more trees.
