Very cute Victorian shop/house on the corner of Barkly and Grey Streets St Kilda – that little tower marks the intersection, and it’s just off the corner, so it looks up the diagonal of Grey Street, a smart idea. It’s also cute cos it’s pink and peeling and hasn’t changed in forever.
It looks like maybe the long side was a verandah, glazed in at some point. The bit beyond has steel framed windows, and the shops look 1950s; must have been redeveloped then and the upstairs must have been turned into offices. Yep just found it was sold in 2023, and ‘due to heritage restrictions could not be redeveloped’ thank goodness. Upstairs is now an escape room !
