These are the #oldlifts at the #HotelWindsor, prob from the 1920s but nobody seems to know. Im fascinated by the twisted, woven and curled #wroughtiron screen; theres only two others I know of in central Melbs (the #birdcagelift at 107 Flinders Lane, and at the Melb Club). This one has decorative solid panel interiors (ignore the 80s ‘regency’ wallpaper !). They’ve been set up as telephone kiosks, now writing rooms, for as long as I can remember. One is now a little historical display (and yes I’m also wondering what ever happened to the windsor redevelopment??).

Note @harperandcharlie says that the Melb Club lift has exactly the same lift enclosures, so that one must be 20s too. Or they’re both c1905.
