Australia Modern in 100 buildings.

Lucky enough to get an invite to the launch of this book #AustraliaModern on Friday, with exhibition at the #melbourneschoolofdesign – an overview of #Modernism in Australia 1925-75 by highlighting 100 places – a project centred in Melbs but Philip and Julie have nobly gone out to ensure the whole country is covered, but of course we have some of the best (ok, NSW and WA took up #Brutalism with more gusto, and Queensland embraced colour and decoration more than us sober Victorians). Loads of great photographs, some original, many newly commissioned ones too. And there’s plenty of stuff I’ve never seen before eg last pic which was the entry to #LucasHeights, now gone. Cover pic us the 1956 #SydneyAncher house in Cremorne Point. Exhibition on till 22 Aug, book it seems not actually in the shops yet, labelled as ‘coming soon’ on @thamesandhudsonau website, maybe Monday ? Nice to meet @modernistermister and @ausmodern after many years and @francesburkemidcmodern too !
