A curious #blockofflats in #EildonRoadStKilda – unusually it’s built right on the street, and a very flat formal facade too. No info in the heritage study but could be 1920s, it’s got a side driveway and parking behind, which it wouldn’t if it was earlier, and might explain why it’s pushed to the front, but not really, not many flats before WW2 has parking, but quite a few had a lot of space at the back. I’ve noticed that many blocks don’t necessarily have the lounge room at the front, but maybe at the side, or like this one where the flats are on each side, with the bed and sun room at the front, the lounge and kitchen at the back.
