Another Sol Sapir on Beaconsfield Parade.

Makinganentrance. Not a fan of the scattered 8-12 storey #brownbrick blocks along the middle park/ #stkilda #beachfront, but this one does have a smashing entrance ! (and crisp details, scroll to see whole thing). Possibly by #SolSapir, who did the similar ones at Alfred Sq (which means he did four of these and two taller ones with spiky exterior precast). Probably early 70s.

Update : This one is indeed by Sol Sapir, and called ‘Belle Mer’, c1968, according to the #builtheritage page.

Like many of them, the kitchen is in the corner, and the solid balcony rather high, restricting the views. Maybe they assumed you’d go onto the balcony to see the sea, or that lounge rooms were for evenings, or he just did it in order to make the tower feel solid.
