Leviathan Store, 1912-13.

One of the ex-mini #departmentstores in the CBD; The not so big Leviathan Clothing Store, built two stages 1912-13. 2nd photo is after stage one, and the great exaggerated #EdwardianBaroque #sconces and stylised swags are even more prominent. For ages there were bits missing of the front corner swags, repaired in 2016 when it was repainted this nice #greige. It was designed by #BatesPeeblesandSmart, who also designed Buckley’s across the road in two stages at the same time. This was one of the many names of the firm that went from #JosephReedArchitect through to #batessmart today. Photo repost from this day in 2019.
