Seen in #Carlton in Feb – the fantastic #mannerist #italianate confection of #Rosaville, designed by the ever creative #NahumBarnet practically at the beginning of his career in 1883. Hope the clients were happy, it would have really stood out as a statement amongst the big but generally conservative terraces of #drummondstreet #southcarlton (at least until Benvenuta was built next door 9 years later). Been part of melb uni residential college #medleyhall since 1950, along with Benvenuta, all repaired and restored in 2011.
Update 2024: according to Wikipedia it was renamed Wilam Hall earlier this year, because John Medley was a member of the Eugenics Society, though Google doesn’t show me that he clearly said anything about; and their website still says Medley.
