Carnong Courts, 29-33 #RobeStreetStKilda, another example of grand terrace houses converted to flats. This was built as Raglan Terrace in 1858, designed by Crouch & Wilson. There were 5, and the southern end one was much wider (see MMBW map 1897).

It was converted in 1926, designed by #AandKHenderson, in a sort of tall bungalow style. They changed it a lot, not only adding a floor, they turned it from 5 houses into 3 flats /floor. They took the internal stairs out, and put stairs and a sunroom and a balcony on the front. The south end ones are wider and got a bay window instead of a balcony. Added new rear wings too.

Maybe it stayed one owner for ages, who refurbished them in the 60s or 70s, I found 3 sale ads showing lots of Formica, colonial striped wallpaper and wood panelling, as well as some 20s doors and windows.

A top floor one sold for $1.7mill in 2016. Photos are from one sold this month in 2021- a bit too much #hotpink for my taste. Apparently it was Alannah Hill’s place, figures.
