Repost 2021: I do like ACCA, great sculptural slabs of #cortensteel, at various angles, overlapping, set in a stark gravel expanse, with entry under a sharp point. Very Deconstructivist, a kind of late aspect of Postmodern, all about angular or ‘exploded’ forms. By @wood_marsh, completed 2002, a long way on from their 1992 fun little toilet in the st kilda bot gardens. Won an #australianinstituteofarchitects award in 2003. The lobby is great too, also angular folded, but in shiny metal.
I reckon along with FedSq this is Melbs best example of #deconstructivism, prob Australia actually. Gehry’s #chauchakwingbuilding in Sydney a good runner up though.

I would add however that I always feel that the ‘Arts Precinct’ round here is a bit sort of in the back streets, and only happened by accident, starting with locating the VCA in the old police barracks and then CUB donating the Malthouse for a theatre in 1990.
