Always liked this #ArtsAndCraftsStyle #blockofflats called Grandcourt in Grey Street St Kilda, great tower-like massing, projecting eaves, and big arched windows.
Built 1921, in an uncertain style like many early blocks of flats. Architect R Clifford Jasper.
Symmetrical along both axes, with these crazy tight #scissorstairs on each side, which join across at the top – I once led a tour group up one side and down the other. All fenced off now. But they also painted the whole thing in ochre #limewash, which is particularly nice. And Im sure the corners now all filled in were once balconies.
