Surprised to see a big old #Victorianpub behind the South Melbourne Market amongst 60s /70s industrial rubbish – The Albion, built in 1888 with #QueenAnnestyle detailing (and an Art Deco parapet), designed by Powell & Witaker. Turns out this is the famous pub that burnt down in an arson attack in 2015 – lit by the builder who was losing $ and running late too – it also made the news cos one of the owners is footy legend #DaneSwan; it’s all very very swish now, dark timber and brass and a big roof deck, all for that set of Melburnians a bit higher flying than I ever was/am/will be.
