Saved ! At least the facade. And just probably so far. It doesn’t look like much but it’s the principle. A project involving an office tower on the corner of Elizabeth and Queensberry Streets in Carlton South currently occupied by 5 buildings, three #heritagelisted as part of a precinct, but they were going to demolish this plainer gabled one, and facade the other two. @rrrrohan moved a motion to a @cityofmelbourne meeting last evening to keep this one as well, and the meeting agreed. Yay. Council’s heritage advisor had more or less said ok to demolish, rather oddly. Final approval rests with the Minister, and @melbourne_heritage_action is writing to urge him to keep it, and also don’t just paint them white- the middle one has great brickwork and a groovy clock! Development design is by @jcbarchitects March 2023 update : seems they’re all for lease.
