Repost 2014: 1960s #electricty #substation #controlroom, #openhousemelbourne opening do. I thought it was a tour of the Spencer Street Power Station, though mostly demolished by then – it was actually a tour of the substation on the corner of Spencer and Lonsdale, which was first built for the railways c1916, and is still part of the system. Second pic is the actual #transformer room, breaking down from 32kv to 12kv or something like that. They’re actually off to the right, those things on the floor are spare ….somethings. Guess I wasnt listening hard enough ! Cute engineer / guide too.
