This funny little garage possibly 1930s on Church Street Richmond cnr of Highett takes up only a third of the site. Probably it was a service station originally, but lost the pumps, and since 1962 it’s been CQ Auto Electrics, still going strong, even though there’s only room for like two cars at a time. I’ve never seen it open, but maybe I’ve only been past on weekends.
Next door is a similar period former printers, with lots of faded signs, I think they were more readable not that long ago, can’t read most of them now (a follower says it was Bernard Overman & Neander, and another pointed out it was the Hudson Stores from 1988 to c2000, packed with stuff that wasn’t cleaned out until 2009). The garage is listed as contributory in the heritage precinct, which is nice.
