Random horrifying image – a thought bubble from 1958 by the Housing Commission for a comprehensive redevelopment of the entire section of Carton between the Exhibition Buildings and Elgin Street. Even though not classed as ‘slums’.
In the end they only did the bottom left corner on the other side of Elgin, the block with the red brick towers from the late 60s currently being replaced by very similar looking towers.
