Trades Hall Council Chamber restoration

The restoration of the New Council Chamber at #TradesHallMelbourne was in the Age recently, so I went to conservation architects @lovellchen webpage and borrowed all these images- and it turns out only the painted wall is original, the rest is sympathetic but not at all like the original, lost in a fire in c1962. It was completely refurbished in quirky 60s style in 1963, but recently the roof started leaking, which led to this work, and the surprise that one wall remained, by #patersonbrothers, restored by @grimwadeconservation, and its very fine, look at that crazy vase ! The work was actually done in 2019, and it won the #australianinstituteofarchitects victoria restoration award last year.
