Repost this day 2018: #MelbourneSouthbank really is a glassy canyon sort of place, divided up by roads with loads of traffic, not much happening at ground level; but it doesn’t feel horrible, traffic lights stop the cars a lot, and the streets are at all angles and relatively short with river or low rise beyond, so you don’t feel completely hemmed in. But there’s more coming in the few gaps you see in these photos, and #Australia108, #australiastallestbuilding (minus spires) in the second last shot is only half way up.
2021 comment – more towers seemed unstoppable but it’s stopped now ! a few are hotels, so quite empty. Really we could and should do better urbanism then this.
